Summer break is here. The store is closed now until the Thursday after the Fourth of July. We will reopen on Thursday, July 9th. During the break there is still a lot of activity at the store with hanging new samples, making new displays and of course decorating for the upcoming Southern California Quilt Run , " Sew Party on the Run...with us". We are the Garden Party so we will be planting lots of fabric flowers around the store. Stay tuned for sneak peek pictures on Instagram and Facebook.
We also continue adding beautiful fabrics, kits and other goodies to our on-line store. This week we received a delicious collection by Martha Negley for Free Spirit called "Veggies". I am a huge fan of her work and was so excited to see "Veggies". We are the Garden Party so we will be planting not only flowers but fabric fruits and veggies around the store. If you would have told me that a radish would look good enough to wear or that peas and beans would make me smile , well I would have rolled my eyes. But here I am planning and looking for the perfect patterns to highlight these fabrics. I'm really considering a radish dress!
Lastly, I have had a few requests to share again the "Village Pattern" compliments of Moda Fabrics and Miss Rosie's Quilt Co. The houses are made with 5" charms - so use up those scraps. And to make it perhaps a little more fun and with purpose, I would love to receive a block from my "village" of friends, so if you make me a single block and bring it to the store, signed on the back, I will trade you a block for a fat quarter of your choice. I'll take up to five from each of my "village" of friends. I've received several ... but need more. The idea is I can make a quilt from my "village" of friends for the store and also some for a few local charity quilts. Keep those blocks coming.
Happy Fourth of July!
