And the countdown begins to the Southern California Quilt Run which starts next week! We are feverishly putting all the finishing touches for the DARN TOOTIN – WE’RE SHOOTiN FOR THE STARS store event.
And if you haven’t heard the dates are July 11th – July 14th and July 18th – July 21st.
Your Darn Tootin, we will be Shootin for the Stars! Western Stars, that is. So, dust off your cowboy hats and boots and mark those dates on your calendar. Yup, we’re photo Shootin …Western Stars. Along with the cowgirl and cowboy photo shoot we encourage you to visit the store at High Noon in the Desert. Get here before those daily temperatures start to scorch even the tumbleweeds. Between High Noon and 12:30 each day we’ll be serving up some cold Sarsaparilla for all those thirsty travelers. Now we all know that Sarsaparilla was banned in the 60’s but it is sure fun to say, and when we serve up Root beer at High Noon – 12:30 each day we’ll probably call it sarsaparilla …just so you know. We will also be playing Western Bingo from High Noon – 12:30 each day for the lucky 15 cowpokes who make it to our store from High Noon – 12:30 each day. Time permitting from High Noon – 12:30 each day, we will play up to 2 rounds of Western Bingo (1 chance per person per day). We have some Western prizes for the winner(s) of Western Bingo from High Noon – 12:30 each day. And don’t forget to wear your cowgirl or cowboy hat into the store. We are having a contest for the most fetching cowgirl or cowboy hat. We want a real head turner. A good looking take your breath away cowgirl or cowboy hat.
This coming week is the 4th of July holiday, and the store will be closed on Thursday, July 4th. We WILL BE OPEN ON Friday and Saturday July 5th & 6th, so if you are lucky enough to be spending the holiday weekend here in the desert stop by and see all the new store goodies.
The store will be closed for the month of August. Opening on Thursday, September 5th.
Just a few new fabric goodies and samples at the store: Winterberry by Martha Negley. Natural greenery and flowers are hard to resist to brighten the house at Christmastime and throughout the winter months. Tossed branches of winterberry, holly, berries and of course bold poinsettias & amaryllis flowers are the subject for this collection. We brought in the whole stunning collection. Winters Eve by Hoffman Fabrics. Brilliant gold snowflakes and coordinates on natural and forest colors. Just a few blenders to go with their classic holiday collections they release every year. Tilda’s Chambray. We’ve been waiting patiently for these new colors to arrive. Prussian, aqua, pine, moss, brown, beige, rosewood, dark grey, eggplant, burgundy, ginger, mustard and putty white. We are expecting the shipment any day now. Faux Leather. We’ve received a couple new faux leather options, Evergreen basket weave and concrete pebble. West Hawk Quilt Sample. Or what we are referring to is the “Darn Tootin, We’re Shootin western sample. This quilt is the companion to our star block we made and the pattern we are giving away during the SCQR shop hop next week. Western colors and an easy pattern to complete. Oxbow Tote samples are on the floor. We made both sizes and used two different color ways of a new linen canvas from Cotton & Steel. We also used a color coordinated heavy weight canvas on the bottoms for added endurance. Baby Bindle samples in several colors and fabrics are displayed in the store. What’s a Baby Bindle you ask, well it’s a darling little vessel that holds what those yarners call a cupcake. Just takes a couple of fat quarters and they are reversible when you want to change it up a little. These would also be great for little gifts or for sale at charity events. Carol has arrived. Carol is the third sister in our Sister Collection series of children’s dresses. Carol is a classically designed pattern that you will make over and over again. It has been designed with you and your little one in mind. It’s quick and easy to make. It has a simple style that will stand the test of time. As with the Millye and Edith patterns, Carol is also reversible to encourage independence when dressing alone. And the loose fit will grow with her because it can still be worn as a tunic after growth spurts. Fashion it with a shirt and leggings or jeans when there’s a chill in the air. Samples from size 1 – size 7 for lots of inspirations.
Have a safe 4th of July and we’ll see you at the store.
